Belles Montres; The international exhibition of fine watches
Published on 7 October 2014 in Fairs and Trade Shows
The world’s most prestigious brands in the field of fine watches come together in Paris for the Salon Belles Montres. This may well be the leading trade show of its kind, and you are invited to attend, meet the makers of quality watches and admire their superb creations. The event takes place from November 21st to 23rd at the Carrousel du Louvre, just a little over a mile from Les Plumes Hotel.
It’s time to learn the secrets of horology
Horology is a word derived from the Greek for ‘the study of time’. More accurately, it is the study of mechanical timekeeping devices. It is a word much used in connection with this annual exhibition of fine watches. The mechanical watch appeared almost simultaneously in France, Italy and Germany at the end of the 15th century, and many terms used in horology are French in origin, so it is appropriate that the superb Salon Belles Montres is held here in Paris.
This year brings the eighth edition of the Salon Belles Montres, and as each year has been better than the previous one, the sense of anticipation in 2014 is intense. Over 40 renowned brands will be in attendance, including Mont Blanc, Gucci, Chanel, Cartier and Ralph Lauren, along with experts who will be giving lectures and presentations. There will also be a temporary bookshop covering all aspects of the subject. To avoid commercial pressure the watches are not for sale at the show, but it will give you a great opportunity to decide what you would like for yourself or the special one in your life.
