Charles Frederick Worth: At the Origins of Parisian Luxury
Born in England, Charles Frederick Worth (1825–1895) founded the House of Worth in 1858 at 7 Rue de la Paix in Paris. A true visionary, he transformed women’s fashion and invented haute couture as we know it today: custom designs, seasonal collections, and live model presentations.
The House of Worth quickly became a symbol of Parisian luxury, influencing the international elite for nearly a century across four generations. A key figure in fashion history, Worth left a lasting mark on Paris’s stylistic identity.
An Exceptional Exhibition at the Petit Palais
Displayed across more than 1,100 square meters in the grand galleries of the Petit Palais, the exhibition brings together over 400 items: garments, accessories, paintings, objects, drawings...
