The Fragonard Perfume Museum; the history and manufacturing secrets of fragrances
The world-famous Fragonard perfumery offers to share with you all the secrets of perfume. Through a guided tour that’s both fun and educational, you’ll discover not only the entire story of fragrances through the millennia, from Ancient Egypt to today, but also come to understand the different stages of their manufacture, from the gathering of raw materials to the final bottled product, via the processes of extraction, distillation and formulation.
Fascinating sights and astonishing aromas
The Musée du Parfum Fragonard offers an educational journey divided into distinct stages. You will pass through rooms devoted to the history of perfumes where you can admire an astonishing collection of kohl pots, bottles, perfume burners, pomanders and other fragrance-related artefacts from all over the world and all historical periods and learn how they were used. Then you’ll find a space arranged to evoke the feel of a perfume laboratory through the ages before browsing an impressive collection of old photos and archive films that show how the trade has evolved over the last hundred years. There’s even an olfaction room where you are invited to challenge and refine your own sense of smell.
Don’t miss the Musée du Parfum Fragonard during your stay at the Hotel Les Plumes. The richness of the collections, the secrets linked to history, and the processes whereby raw materials are turned into perfumes will forever change the way you view your favourite fragrance!
