Long live the winter and the cold! The approach of Christmas brings the desire to go ice-skating with your friends or family or as a couple. The kids aren’t doing much at home but don’t want to leave that unstoppable games console? The sun is shining? Quick, grab your down jackets, hats, scarves and gloves and head straight for the outdoor Christmas ice rinks that are temporarily installed each year for the duration of the holidays.  A day of fun and laughter awaits you. You’ll find several of these seasonal ice rinks scattered over Paris and Ile de France.

Les Plumes Hotel, a romantic hotel located in the 9th arrondissement, recommends some of the closest for his guests. The giant ice track of the Grand Palais (8th) welcomes skaters from 14th December 2016 to 2nd January 2017 and you’ll enjoy unforgettable moments as you glide around the ice.  The rink at the Eiffel Tower (7th) will open 57 metres above Paris on the first floor of the famous ‘Dame de Fer’ from mid-December 2016 to mid-February 2017. A 190 m2 rink promises an incredible experience and this year the spotlight is on ice hockey and next year’s world championships. Don’t miss the rink at the Champs-Elysees Christmas Village; the ice will be ready from 13th November 2016 to 3rd January 2017 and you may be surprised to find yourself skating in the presence of great champions.

Other frozen tracks await beginners and seasoned skaters in numerous locations all over the capital; the ice rink at the Trocadero Christmas market in the 16th arrondissement, in the Zoological Park of Paris, in Saint-Germain des Neiges in the heart of Saint Germain Meadows in the 6th or at Charléty sur Neige (13th) where toboggan runs, rides, zip lines, trampoline and a host of fun activities offer enjoyable outings for the whole family.
